Journalism Internship in Bolivia
USD 5,000
Journalism internships in Bolivia with Bolivian Express are a 50-day programme in La Paz. This internship in Bolivia combines practical training, content production, Spanish classes and cultural immersion. Participants choose a focus in Journalism, Video Production, or Photography & Photojournalism when applying.
The programme includes 40 hours of Spanish classes, accommodation with a selected Bolivian host family, breakfast and lunch, airport pickup, arrival orientation, professional training and three organised trips. Living with a host family provides opportunities to practise Spanish and experience everyday life in Bolivia.
Participants develop original work for guaranteed publication through Bolivian Express, including contributions to our magazine, which will publish four editions per year. Depending on their chosen focus, participants will research and produce articles, photographic stories or audiovisual projects with guidance from the BX team.
WHAT’S THE TRAINING PROGRAMME LIKE
Your training combines workshops, editorial meetings, supervised project work and Spanish classes. You will develop a project related to your chosen focus, from the initial research and planning to production, editing and presentation.
University collaborations and external classes will complement BX-led training, giving participants opportunities to learn with local professionals and exchange ideas with Bolivian students.
Throughout the programme, you will receive feedback on your work and support in finding sources, developing interviews and understanding the Bolivian context. Your 40 hours of Spanish classes will run alongside your practical training.
The programme also includes cultural activities and three organised trips. During the final stage of your stay, you will complete your project and work with the team to prepare it for publication.
